Congratulations to senior Sebastien Meyers, who the Rotary Club awarded the Prescott Bloom Service Above Self Award. The award is named in honor of late Illinois State Senator Prescott Bloom. It recognizes students who exemplify outstanding leadership and volunteerism in their schools and communities. #rocksolid
Sophomore creative fashions student Anastasia Ruckle was recently recognized at the Illinois State University Fashion Design Competition for having the top designs in the high school category. The theme for the show was "Camp," and Ruckle submitted visual designs along with a written section explaining her inspiration behind the design. She took inspiration from the marching band and the different themes in a marching band show. Each design highlighted elements from drum major uniforms. In addition to attending the show where ISU students showcased their design skills, Ruckle also got a backstage experience. Congratulations, Anastasia! #rocksolid

Biology students learned about protein synthesis by building brownies. Students moved to different locations of the cell and followed the code's instructions to make their protein. Mistakes made led to some undesirable brownie toppings. Fun way to learn difficult content!
