Today at Limestone

Biology students learned about protein synthesis by building brownies. Students moved to different locations of the cell and followed the code's instructions to make their protein. Mistakes made led to some undesirable brownie toppings. Fun way to learn difficult content!

Brisk but sunny morning to launch the 30 boats at Banner Main for the Limestone Bass Fishing tournament

Have a safe and wonderful weekend, Rockets and Rocket Families!

Jazz I and Jazz II participated in the Illinois State University Jazz Festival this afternoon #rocksolid

Forensic classes watch a toy-reward arson dog work - she indicates ignitable liquids, which is usually evidence of an arson situation. Her name is Molly, and she is named after the first female firefighter in the US.
Earlier in the week, Tony Rendleman (LCHS '97) spoke with students about being a firefighter and the evidence they collect from fire scenes.

Biology classes participated in the 13th annual March Mammal Madness challenge, an international activity with Dr. Katie Hinde of Arizona State University that included researching "combatants" and completing a bracket similar to NCAA Basketball.

Congratulations to Nathan Van Dran, the top scorer for Stout's classes with 115 points earned on his bracket!
Special Shoutout: this year's trophy was created by area grade-school 6th grader Niko with his 3-D printer!

Juniors and seniors heard from guest speaker John Weber before taking the Safe Driver/Safe Passenger Pledge. Weber has survived multiple traumatic brain injuries, including one from a car crash. His determination to work hard to overcome obstacles and his humor have kept him motivated and moving forward through the hard times in life. Even while facing difficult bullying situations and realizing new ways of learning in college, John continues to do his best and also care for others. He loves to encourage others and share things that have made a difference in his life.
