Chemistry students are learning about energy interactions with matter. Students observed and studied this phenomenon by making a craft with beads that changed color in the presence of UV radiation and glow-in-the-dark beads. The color that the beads turn, and their glow-in-the-dark nature, gave students insight into the energy and matter interaction that is occurring. These creations will serve as a constant reminder to students of some fundamental principles in their quantum chemistry unit.
